Another season of The Bachelor has come to its fairy tale ending, and with its March 14 season finale a timeless new power couple and earth shattering romance has been unleashed: titular bachelor Ben Higgins and his lady love du jour, Lauren Bushnell.

As PEOPLE reports, the 27-year-old business analyst proposed to the 26-year-old flight attendant with a 4.25 carat diamond ring during the show's finale on Monday evening.

"Everything that happened led me to Lauren. I couldn't be happier," Higgins told PEOPLE in an interview for the magazine's cover story, adding that with regards to telling runner-up JoJo Fletcher that he loved her during an episode, he has no regrets.

"I can't apologize for being honest or expressing what I thought was best to express at the time. But I could never picture my life without Lauren."

Meanwhile, some fans of the show seem frustrated with Higgins' final choice, many voicing that they had been rooting for Fletcher to win.

"Lauren's own sisters says she always falls in love quickly. He should have picked JoJo. They are so much better for each other," one user shared on Facebook in a comment to a congratulatory post by Jimmy Kimmel.

Another expressed, somewhat more analytically, "I laid bets on Jo-Jo as well.....seemed more genuine and she took her time to get to know him in the short time they had!!!"

But on Twitter, one viewer summed up the greater sentiment with an honest, impassioned and expressive "WHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY NOOOOOoooOOoOoOoo UUGGGgggHHHHHH"

In any event, congratulations Ben and Lauren!
