Disgraced TV and radio host Billy Bush reportedly broke down in tears following the release of a 2005 Access Hollywood video in which he and Donald Trump make sexist, vulgar statements about women, UsWeekly reports.

According to an "insider," Bush is now "scared that the scandal has caused permanent damage to his career" as an entertainment personality on television and radio.

"Billy was devastated and crying when the leaked tape of him with Donald Trump in 2005 was first leaked to The Washington Post," the source told UsWeekly, adding, "He was crying that his career was over."

Following the leak of the damning video, Bush was suspended from his gig on the TODAY show on October 9.

Noah Oppenheim, the NBC executive in charge of the show, issued a memo to staff which read, "There is simply no excuse for Billy’s language and behavior on that tape. NBC has decided to suspend Billy, pending further review of this matter."

The news was confirmed by the TODAY show on October 10:

The former TODAY host, who deleted his Twitter account soon after the recording surfaced, apologized for his behavior via a statement obtained by Variety, saying, "Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago — I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry."
