Corey Feldman Proposes to Girlfriend In Case Donald Trump Tries to Deport Her

Count Corey Feldman among the number of Americans alarmed by president-elect Donald Trump's stated plan to deport millions of immigrants — and he's announced that he's proposed to bandmate and previously-described "main-gel" (main angel) Courtney Anne as a result, the entertainer told People. 

Corey and Courtney Anne, who is Canadian, were celebrating their four-year anniversary in Palm Springs when the Lost Boys actor popped the question. And how did it all go down? Well — this part will be adorable to some, eye roll-inducing to others — Feldman opted for the classic, middle-school-style "check yes or no" passed note.

"I was of course a bit nervous, as any man will admit, you never truly know what a woman is thinking," Feldman told PEOPLE. "So as much as I assumed she would be happy and say ‘yes,’ there’s always that insecure part of my brain that regresses immediately to my childhood and thought maybe not."

"So I kinda chickened out and did a written proposal by writing a note with two check boxes, one for yes and the other for no," Feldman continued. PEOPLE includes a photo of the actual note, which has a heart-eyed smiley face under the "yes" box and a sad face crying a lone angry tear under "no." He included a ring, too, and Courtney Anne accepted.

The "Go 4 It" singer said his decision was prompted by the recent election, and our forthcoming president's views and stated intentions.

"She was surprised because we had both been so anti-marriage since we met. But seeing as she’s Canadian and with Trump coming in, we didn’t want to risk being separated by new immigration laws."

He added, "We both know that we make a good team, and don’t want to be separated  for any reason. So this is the best decision to protect our relationship."

In a 60 Minutes interview that aired November 13, Donald Trump said, "What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, where a lot of these people, probably 2 million, it could be even 3 million, we are getting them out of our country or we are going to incarcerate." According to nonpartisan fact-checking site Politifact, a Department of Homeland Security report estimated there were 1.9 million "removable criminal aliens" in the U.S. between 2011-2013, though it didn't state how many were in the U.S. illegally.

It's not clear whether Courtney Anne lives in America without documentation or has faced a conviction for a legal charge, or whether Feldman's taking Trump's additional campaign promises regarding treatment of foreign-born residents at face value. Either way, the couple looks forward to their union.

Corey says they plan to get hitched in a "small, secret" ceremony.
