Happy 10th Birthday to Twitter

The social network was launched publicly on July 15, 2006.

Originally referred to as, "stat.us" the name later changed to "Twttr" and finally to "Twitter," when it launched 10 years ago, today.

Today, on average, about 6,000 tweets are tweeted per second on Twitter. That figures out to over 350,000 per minute, or 500 million per day and approximately 200 billion per year.
