DC Entertainment has a years-long plan to roll out a roster of movie adaptations, aiming to rival Marvel Studios' longtime record of wins. But two of its most anticipated projects fell short this year: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was gloomy, while Suicide Squad was trashed by critics and never matched the magic of its trailer. Hope springs eternal, however, and a new Wonder Woman trailer released on November 3 looks, well, really cool. Even more importantly, it looks fun.

Gal Gadot continues to prove perfectly-chosen for the role of Diana Prince — her appearance in Dawn of Justice was a bright spot in the film — and the Israeli actress proved her action chops in the Fast and the Furious franchise (#GiseleandHanDeservedBetter). The action in much of the clip seems to take place during World War I, with Diana looking back at events that shaped the future Justice League member's journey toward superhero status. We see Chris Pine's Steve Trevor meeting, working with (and flirting with) Wonder Woman; we get a peek at the UK Office's Lucy Davis as Etta Candy. Oh, and unlike Lynda Carter's cheap-looking cuffs in the 1970s TV series, new Wonder Woman's Bracelets of Submission are tough as nails.

Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster) and hits theaters on June 9, 2017. Watch the Wonder Woman trailer above.
