Avery Wilson Slays Aerosmith’s ‘Dream On’ in PopCrush Karaoke Booth: Watch
If you happened to tune in for the first few rounds of Season 3 of The Voice in 2012, you'll no doubt remember the unbelievable, soul-shaking vocal chops of Avery Wilson.
The talented 20-year-old Connecticut-bred crooner — then just 16 at the time — successfully belted his way through to the knockout rounds with songs like "Titanium" and before a premature elimination, much to the overwhelming disapproval of the general public. Evidently, Clive Davis was one of those dissenters, because the powerhouse performer wound up inking a deal with RCA Records years later. (Hey, controversial decisions on reality shows often tend to be a good thing!)
Back in May, Wilson returned to The Voice to showcase his growth in front of the judges since his elimination and perform his stunning, soldiering debut single, "If I Have To" — which won him even more fans.
A few weeks later, we were lucky enough to have Avery in our own offices as he continues to prep his debut record. And, in what further proved why that initial elimination was so, so totally wrong, the singer hopped into our karaoke booth to tackle an unexpected classic: Aerosmith's "Dream On."
Seriously, just watch: Within seconds, he's taking off — and we defy you not to get chills once he hits his stride with that falsetto-filled chorus. Now, that's talent.
And if you're digging what you're hearing, make sure to check out Avery's debut single, "If I Have To."
