The trailer for Cats, based on the beloved Broadway musical of the same name, debuts this Friday. In the meantime, you can watch a making-of featurette that takes you behind the scenes of the film, directed by Tom Hooper.

In short, it looks bonkers.

There’s Taylor Swift dancing with Idris Elba! There’s Rebel Wilson wandering around gigantic sets that are designed to make the human actors looked cat-sized! You have Elba talking about seeing the world from “a cat perspective.” There’s Judi Dench and Ian McKellan laughing hysterically because they are both in Cats! A visual effects supervisor talks about “digital fur technology”! There’s Hooper saying the film, which is about cats who sing, is actually “a very timely story about the importance of inclusion and redemption”! This is Cats! It is a real movie that is coming to theaters!

Here’s the synopsis from the press release:

Featuring [Andrew] Lloyd Webber’s iconic music and a world-class cast of dancers under the guidance of Tony-winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, In the Heights), the film reimagines the musical for a new generation with spectacular production design, state-of-the-art technology, and dance styles ranging from ballet to contemporary, hip-hop to jazz, street to tap.

I literally cannot wait for Cats. Bring on the digital fur technology! It opens in theaters on December 20.
