Elizabeth Banks Likens Trump to ‘Hunger Games’ Warmonger in Expert DNC Trolling
As the nation's most visible liberals heralded the party's official nomination of Hillary Clinton for President of the United States in Philadelphia, the Hunger Games actress took a moment to put the platform of Clinton's opponent, Donald Trump, into context. In the clip above, she mocks Trump's infamous assumption of the Republican National Convention's stage to Queen's "We Are The Champions." Then, the real fireworks begin, as she targets his hateful rhetoric, which has openly admonished minority groups, encouraged violent war tactics and ignored crucial facts and data surrounding crime trends.
"You know, I don't usually say this about Donald Trump, but that was over-the-top," Banks says above after completing her bumbling entrance and reaching the microphone. "I confirmed it right now."
Banks then goes on to analyze some disturbing truths she noticed while watching the RNC in Cleveland last week.
"Some of you know me from The Hunger Games, in which I play Effie Trinket, a cruel, out-of-touch reality TV star who wears insane wigs while delivering long-winded speeches to a violent dystopia," she says. "So when I tuned into [the RNC] last week, I was like: uh, hey, that's my act."
