Famous Navy Seal Arrested in Texas for Assault and Drunk In Public

Robert J. O'Neill is a name synonymous with one of the most historic military operations in modern history: The raid that killed Osama Bin Laden. As a member of the elite Navy SEAL Team Six, O'Neill claims to have been the one who pulled the trigger, bringing an end to the world's most wanted terrorist during a covert raid in Pakistan in May 2011.

His military career is decorated with bravery and honor, having participated in over 400 missions and earning two Silver Stars, four Bronze Stars, and a Navy Cross. Robert J. O'Neill is what I call an "American war hero." However, O'Neill's life after his military service has been marred by encounters with law enforcement.

Just a few days ago Robert J. O'Neill was arrested in Frisco, Texas for assault causing bodily harm and public intoxication. He was released later the same day on a $3,500 bond. At the same time, no other information has been released as to what happened. This incident is not his first brush with the law. In 2016, O'Neill was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Montana.

The contrast between O'Neill's heroic military legacy and his personal struggles is stark. While I never had the opportunity to serve in our country's military, I have been surrounded by what I call "military heroes" in my family. I've seen the backside struggles these men live with (PTSD for one), so I pass no judgment on the trouble they can get into. At the same time, it's not a green light for them to behave like they're out of control either.

Living with the memories of what these warriors did in combat can be an incredible burden to live with. Nonetheless, this dual legacy of military heroism and personal struggle continues to captivate public attention as O'Neill's journey unfolds.
