Texas Debates After Driver Handcuffed for Driving Through Buc-ee’s Lot
People in Texas for the most part love Buc-ee's, and a majority of Texans also have a real appreciation for law enforcement officers.
Recently, there was a man detailed by an officer after he was seen driving through a Buc-ee's parking lot, and it has caused quite the reaction on social media.
What Happened at Buc-ee's?
Last year, on April 19th Christopher Shull stopped at the Buc-ee's location off in Texas City off the Gulf HWY and Holland Rd.
Shull cut in front of a police cruiser as he drove through open parking spots attempting to get to the gas pumps as quickly as possible.
The officer in the parking lot was Texas City officer Scott Harrell and he followed Shull to the gas pump and activated his emergency lights.
The Two Were Disagreeing the Entire Time
Officer Harrell told Shull that it’s against the law to drive through the parking lot like that. Then proceeded to write a traffic ticket for disregarding a traffic control device.
Shull was not about to admit to wrongdoing, which caused more tension between the two.
Police video shows that Harrell then put Shull in handcuffs and in the back of his police cruiser.
The two continues to argue about the situation, the danger it could have caused, or whether it was a police officer overreacting.
The Debate is Going Viral
Everyone on social media has an opinion about what happened in this Buc-ee's parking lot last April.
Officer Harrell remains on the police force but has been moved to inside administration duty since this incident occurred.
Shull has now contacted a lawyer and are preparing for a federal civil rights lawsuit.
The ticket that was given during this altercation was dismissed by the Texas City Municipal Court.
So, who do you think was right in this situation?
