Here’s The Latest Details On A Cold Medicine Recall In Texas
The state of Texas has been alerted to a recall of a specific type of medicine targeted towards children. Why was the medicine taken back? Here's what is known at the time of writing.
Why Was The Medicine Recalled In The State Of Texas?
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the product in question is Safetussin Max Strength Multi-Symptom Cough, Cold and Flu Blister Packs. The call back was issued on April 10, 2025. In total, a quantity of 14,250 items were affected.
The description of the box was "blue, orange and red cardboard box with the drug facts label on the back" with “Safe for adults with High Blood Pressure, Diabetes" on it as well. But, the reason for the recall, believe it or not, was not because of the medicine inside.

If The Medicine Wasn't The Reason For The Recall, What Was?
As revealed by the U.S. CPSC, the box of the medicine is the major issue. The box itself is not properly put together and could allow a child to inadvertently consume the product. The ingredient of the medicine, acetaminophen, is toxic for children.
The product was available in Texas at H-E-B, with the timeframe being July 2024 to March 2025. If you bought the product, you should reach out to Kramer Laboratories for further instruction on how to get a refund for the item.
Both box and medicine should be thrown out. As this is a developing story, we will have more information if it becomes available.
