A man in Texas is now behind bars after his actions resulted in a 12 year old becoming pregnant. How did this happen in Texas? Here are the details of the case.

When Did The Crime Against The Child Begin?

Per The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Police reported Joshua Weibye met the unnamed victim when the child was 5 years old. Weibye, at the time, was dating the child's mother. Weibye began to sexually assault the child while dating the mother.

In the year of 2020, the child, now older, attempted to inform her mother of the situation with Weibye. The mother did not listen to the child, instead allowing Weibye to be near the child without restriction. Things however, changed drastically in 2021.

What Happened In 2021 Between The Child And Weibye?

Weibye, according to police, took the unnamed victim to clinic for abortions after he found out the now 12 year old was pregnant with his child. The clinic, located in Austin, did not perform the abortion, with the reason being given that no guardian or parent was as the clinic. In addition, workers at the clinic alerted police to the situation, due the the child's age.

Police inquires revealed that Weibye made an attempt to influence the child into telling law enforcement a false story about her getting pregnant from a 12 year old boy. However, police quickly deduced the false story, which was revealed in a release:

“The victim could not give consistent information, and she did not have answers to many basic questions. (Officers) also learned that the victim’s mother did not know that she was pregnant or that (Weibye) had taken the victim to get an abortion, which also caused them to be suspicious.”

The mother then took her children to Mexico after the incident was revealed, with Child Protective Services unable to find their exact location. But, eventually, after it was discovered that Weibye had taken the unnamed child back to Texas, he was taken into custody. Police reports also indicate the child was no longer pregnant, after the mother was reported to have "given the victim pills which caused her to lose the baby,”

Weibye was tried and found guilty of two counts, indecency with a child and sexual assault of a child that the defendant was prohibited from marrying. In total, his sentence was 100 years in jail. If more information is reported, we will have it here.
