
Texas Has Now Launched First All Female Crew Into Space
Van Horn, Texas is just a blip on the map, and most likely would not even be that if it were not for the intersection and beginning of US Highway 90 with Interstate 10 about 120 miles east of El Paso. It is out in the middle of what most would consider fly-over Texas that the aerospace company Blue Origin operates a launch sight for space flight.

Blue Origin has been operating spaceflights for the New Shepherd Program, and earlier today they completed their 11th mission in world record and interstellar fashion. Did you know just 1 in 7 people to have entered outer space is a female, but the crew for today's mission was six females, and that made it the first all female mission to space since 1963 when Valentina Tereshkova went up solo over 60 years ago.

This launch was not without its critics as people often question the immense cost for what what amounted to a very short duration in space. You could almost call it a joyride as no major scientific research was conducted, and the flight was filled with civilian occupants returned to Earth in just about 10 minutes.

I am not exactly sure how much it costs to buy a ticket to space, and I imagine many of these types of experiences are comped for the very well connected. Would you ever want to take a spaceflight?
