Texas Lotto System To Be Examined Following European’s Massive Win
The Texas Lottery recently made news following the reveal of three Europeans winning a giant amount of money. Now, it seems the Lone Star State is about modify things so that it can't happen again.
Big Win In Europe Brings Questions For Texas Lottery
For more information on how the massive win happened, click here. In simple terms, a group spent a large amount of money to obtain as many number combinations as possible. In total, per KXAN, $26 Million was exhausted to get almost all of the numbers that could lead to a win.
The gamble ended up working and $95 million dollars was awarded to a group in Europe. Now Texas is seeking to alter the rules so it cannot happen again.
Lawmakers In Texas To Inspect Courier Services For State Lottery
KXAN reports the Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs studied how people obtain Texas lottery tickets online. Per the committee's calender:
"...whether a change in law is needed to respond to technological advancements to
protect children in our state and to maintain original legislative intent...”
In addition, Investigative Reporter from the Houston Chronicle, Eric Dexheimer, there are already some measures being taken:
“What they’re doing is putting some obstacles in place, to make it less likely that it’ll happen again...So, one of the things that the Texas Lottery Commission did, was…provided official lottery terminals, which you need to print out tickets. And these were some outlets that had barely printed any tickets prior to this, so they needed new equipment.”
