Texas travelers are going to be in for a big surprise next time they attempt to board a plane if they are not up to date on the latest items banned by the Transportation Safety Administration. If you attempt to place this item, or "accidentally" forget this popular travel companion is within one of your checked bags, then TSA will probably guarantee you never see it again in Texas, or anywhere else across the United States.

You most likely recently heard that beginning today, May 1st, 2025, you will not be able to board any flights, international or domestic, without the new, special Real ID, but there is not a document in existence that will get one travel essential on board either. Recently, TSA said full enforcement of Real ID will begin on May 7th, but quietly back on March 1st another very important restriction became effective.

According to this TSA article, you may no longer pack lithium batteries into your checked baggage. Apparently, even in standby mode, lithium batteries can become unstable, overheat, and even cause fires which would be disastrous in an unattended area like the cargo hold of a plane in midflight.

The good news is you may still travel with your charging stations and battery packs if they are kept with you in the main cabin, which is where they are most likely needed to power whatever device it is that is keeping your kid from kicking the back of my seat.

U.S. Government's Updated "Do Not Travel" List

Many people travel at the end of the year for the holidays or to use up vacation days that may expire. These countries have a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory issued on them by the U.S. Government and should be avoided.

Texas Residents Advised to NOT Travel to These 9 Places

The United States Department of State regularly issues travel advisories for Americans to help keep them safe during their vacations. There are four levels of advisories: exercise normal precautions, exercise increased caution, reconsider travel and do not travel. These are nine of the 19 destinations under a Level 4: DO NOT TRAVEL advisory.
