The Famous Donkey Lady Bridge
Located at the intersection of Applewhite Rd and Jeff Rd, roughly 30 minutes South of downtown San Antonio, lies the Applewhite Bridge. Otherwise known to locals as "The Donkey Lady Bridge".
The Donkey Lady Bridge Lore
The story originated sometime in the late 1800s and has stood the test of time, as it still gets passed around in 2025. The story claims a farmer burned his home down with his wife and children inside. It's been claimed that the wife, horribly disfigured and grieving over the loss of her children, haunts the bridge at night. It's also been said that her appearance looked so disfigured that she resembled a donkey, as her cries can be heard if you visit the bridge after sundown.
What Happens If You Visit The Donkey Lady Bridge
The main thing that most people have experienced is that the loud wails of a woman suffering can be heard. However, other stories, such as hoof-shaped dents or damage, can be found on vehicles that dare try to taunt the Donkey Lady. A ghostly apparition of the Donkey Lady herself has also been said to appear, thus frightening anyone unfortunate enough to catch a glimpse of her.
