Many Search for Treasures and This One was Found 

A Treasure chest, filled with Jewels, gold and more worth over $1 million and hidden in the Rocky Mountains 10 years ago has been found. 

 Forrest Fenn, a famed art and antiquities collector living in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and is now 89, created a treasure hunt that lasted for a decade. 

He said he packed this treasure chest with all kinds of riches including rare gold coins and gold nuggets, prehistoric “mirrors” of hammered gold, antique jewelry with rubies and emeralds and more. 

Fenn said he then hid the treasure as a way to tempt people to get into the wilderness to enjoy an adventure with the possibility of riches. Fenn then posted clues to the treasure’s whereabouts online and in a 24-line poem that was published in his 2010 autobiography “The Thrill of the Chase.” 

He told the Santa Fe New Mexican on Sunday that a man who did not want his name released, found the chest a few days ago. A photograph the man sent confirmed the find. Fenn said the poem in his book led the man to the precise spot where it was found, just as Fenn had left it.  

Hundreds of thousands have searched for the chest without success. Many even quit their jobs to try and find it and others spent their life savings looking for it. At least four people died searching for it. 

Asked how he felt now that the treasure has been found, Fenn said: “I don’t know, I feel halfway kind of glad, halfway kind of sad because the chase is over.”
