Paul McCartney Thinks Oasis Should Reunite
Add Paul McCartney to the list of those who want to see an Oasis reunion. The Beatles legend, who is one of the band's musical heroes, suggested that Noel and Liam Gallagher should put aside their decades-long feud and get back together.
In a Q&A reprinted on his website, McCartney was asked if he had any advice for the fighting siblings. He said, “I don’t know if they will ever make up. It would be good because I think everyone likes brothers to like each other – and make up. It’s a pity because they are very good together. Like many brothers, they are crazy. But it would be nice if they got together. My advice to them? Just get together and make some good music! But they have got to want to do it. I think a lot of people would like them to do that. They are pretty cool guys!”
Oasis broke up in 2009, with Noel, who wrote their songs, forming High Flying Birds and Liam, the singer, creating Beady Eye with other group members. Since then, the British press has regularly started rumors about reunions and prodding the pair about one. In classic-rock terms, it's a little like what Journey have gone through, except that Steve Perry and Neal Schon don't curse each other out in interviews.
But with the breakup of Beady Eye last year, rumors have started again, most recently last month when it was reported that the Gallaghers had a "gentlemen's agreement" to "give things another go." Noel claimed the source, who was unnamed, came from Liam's camp. "I’ll tell you how close it is, he said. "She probably wakes up with him every morning."
Noel has very little reason to reform Oasis. High Flying Birds' new album, Chasing Yesterday, topped the U.K. chart and they are currently touring the U.S.
