It took the whole of December, but NBC has finally named a new Today host to replace Matt Lauer. Hoda Kotb will permanently take over the co-hosting slot alongside Savannah Guthrie, having filled in for Lauer after the disgraced anchor was let go over sexual harassment charges.
SNL had already declared Saoirse Ronan as our first December host, and the time has come to round out 2017. James Franco will return to the sketch comedy series, as will comedian Kevin Hart and some fan-favorite musical guests to close out the year.
As if you hadn’t enough trouble keeping The Handmaiden and The Handmaid’s Tale separate, Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman are adding a new wrinkle. The Parks and Recreation pair will host The Handmade Project, a new NBC reality competition for craft-making.
SNL hasn’t yet revealed its final host of Season 41, let alone what, if any cast turnover to expect in Season 42, but a notable change is already afoot. The NBC mainstay will cut at least two commercial breaks from live airings next season, but what might replace the additional runtime?
