Kids with allergies typically have a tough time on days like halloween where they are given food they might not be able to eat.

For those who don't know, a child carrying a teal pumpkin on Halloween often means that they have a food allergy. And, in response, some houses will leave teal-colored pumpkins on their porch to let those with food allergies know that they have non-edible treats to hand out.

Now, it has become common practice in recent years for children and young adults with autism to carry blue colored pumpkins with them.

This mom explains it best.

So if you're out trick or treating and see a blue pumpkin, be respectful and courteous so everyone can enjoy the holiday.
