Title Fight: Could Buc-ee’s Have an Enemy in Texas Soon Named Wally’s?
Texas has many things it's famous for. The Cowboys, The Alamo, Barbeque...the list is endless. Of course on that list is none other than Bu-cee's.
Texans definitely know this gas station juggernaut. After all it was started here in The Lone Star State. The largest one is even set to be built right here in Texas!
And yet with every business that grows like Buc-ee's does, there's always someone looking to replicate that success. One company that seems to be making a bit of noise is Wally's. But is there really any way for a company from Illinois to overtake the beloved beaver?
MySanAntonio looked at the thought of Buc-ee's running into some sort of problem with Wally's in terms of business opportunities. As of writing, it doesn't seem like Wally's poses a threat to the gas station giant. According the article, Wally's only has 2 places of business open currently.
So where is the discord coming from? It doesn't seem like Wally's at current time could challenge 56 Buc-ee's with 2 stores. Well the internet seems to differ in the opinion.
Because of the size of the Wally's just opened, covering 36,000 square feet, some are beginning to wonder if Wally's is trying to set themselves up for larger stores. However there's one thing about that.
Remember that largest Buc-ee's mentioned earlier? Well it'll be 75,000 square feet. Doing quick math, Bu-cee's store holds a 39,000 square feet advantage. So if Wally's is to compete, they're going have to start building bigger.
But right now? Bu-cee's reigns supreme, as it should.
