A New Universal Theme Park 4 Hours from San Angelo
In a recent WalletHub ranking of the best U.S. states to raise a family, Texas scored high on family fun. Of all the states, Texas was third in family fun. Now, it looks like Texas will get a bit more fun.
Universal Parks and Resorts has announced that it plans to bring a new concept for families with children to Frisco, Texas. According to Google maps, Frisco is just 4 hours from San Angelo. Universal is an elite tourist destination with only 5 other locations worldwide in Orlando, Florida, Hollywood, California, Osaka, Japan, Beijing, and Sentosa, Singapore.
Anyone who has visited Universal Studios in Orlando knows what an incredible experience Universal theme parks are.
The theme park in Frisco will be small and they say will include, rides, play areas, and a 300-room hotel. They have not announced a name or theme for the new park. The official concept art appears to include DreamWorks properties.
Mark Woodbury, chairman and CEO of Universal Parks and Resorts says the project will appeal to families with immersive experiences making it a one to two-day destination.
According to a Twitter post,
The new park concept, set in a lush green landscape and featuring immersive themed lands, celebrates Universal’s iconic brand of entertainment, humor, and innovation and brings to life its beloved characters and stories in ways that will wow even the youngest theme park goers.
There is a lot of speculation online that the new park could possibly feature characters and scenes from popular DreamWorks movies like Shrek, Trolls, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, and television projects like Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Gabby's Dollhouse.
It sounds like a lot of fun for kids. Most of the social media posts are extremely positive. The biggest complaints are from people outside of the Dallas area, who with the park was closer to them.
Either way, it's a lot closer to Texans than Orlando or the other Universal destinations. Maybe, this is just the beginning.
