‘IT’s Andy Muschietti Confirms He’s Directing ‘The Flash’ Next
There’s been a lot of upheaval in the upcoming DC Comics movie lineup in recent months. Justice League didn’t exactly work out the way anyone planned (except maybe Darkseid; that guy is always trying to ruin everything), and several high-profile projects got scuttled in its wake, including Ben Affleck’s Batman movie (which now features 100 percent less Affleck and 100 percent more Robert Pattinson).
Among the films that were seemingly tossed into limbo (which is a real place in DC Comics!) was The Flash, which has gone through directors the way most people go through toothbrushes; every few months the old one got tossed and a new one comes along. Fandango got a status update on the film, which may star Justice League’s Ezra Miller, although who even knows at this point, from the current toothbrush — er, director — IT’s Andy Muschietti. He said that, yes, the film is still happening and, yes, he is directing it. In fact, it’s his next movie.
He also said you should not expect a horror movie in the style of IT or Mama. That’s not what The Flash is about:
What captivated me about the Flash is the human drama in it. The human feelings and emotions that play in the drama [of it]. It’s going to be fun, too. I can’t promise that there will be any horror [elements in it], really, but it’s a beautiful human story.
Muschietti’s IT: Chapter Two opens in theaters on September 6.
