Genevieve Pfluger Mejia, M.D. is an obstetrician and gynecologist at San Angelo Community Medical Center, and also serves as the Medical Director for the Laura Bush Institute of Women’s Health. This program provides free mammograms for the under-insured and uninsured. In this video, Dr. Mejia explains a breast MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). MRI's are not used as the usual screening process, but in addition to a mammogram if there is something suspicious in the results. The MRI produces higher quality images so the doctor can look into the usual area. While it may turn out to be nothing, early detection is vital, and has saved many lives.
