Cellphone Providers Offering Free Wi-Fi
How about some good news?
COVID-19 has forced a lot of Central Texas employees to work from home, and on Friday, the Federal Communications Commission pledged to "Keep Americans Connected."
The idea is to "ensure that Americans do not lose their broadband or telephone connectivity as a result of these exceptional circumstances". FCC Chairman Ajit Pai specifically asked broadband and telephone service providers, as well as trade associations, to take the Keep Americans Connected Pledge. So far, over 200 companies and associations have signed the Chairman's pledge to Keep American Connected.
Here's what I saw from Channel 25: AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon have all agreed to fulfill the pledge. Each company is offering something a bit different, so you should check specifically with your provider for complete details.
In a nutshell, each provider has agreed to keep you connected to your wi-fi. Plus they are offering some leniency in getting your monthly bill paid, waving late fees and offering free hot spots.
