Every year it happens, a ridiculous number of children in Texas go missing, leaving behind worried families and loved ones. The disappearance of a child is just awful. A heart-crushing ordeal. For me, the fear of the unknown would tear me apart. Only by getting the information out there do we stand a chance of getting these Texas kiddos home safely.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children does great work even in Texas. Founded in 1984, the organization and its national toll-free hotline (1-800-THE-LOST) have taken in more than five million calls since its inception. They've also assisted law enforcement in finding more than 376,000 missing children nationwide. That's impressive.

The thing I like most about the NCMEC is that they're relentless in getting out information and working with local authorities. That's the key. The need to find these children continues.
