For those tired of iPhone-related sidewalk collisions or conversation cut short by relentless Snapchat scanning, we've got some good news — the forthcoming musical adaptation of 2004 cult favorite movie Mean Girls might do away with the concept of social media completely, if a recent Tina Fey hint holds up.

During a conversation as part of the Tribeca Film Festival last night (April 19), Fey told an audience that she's just not sure the likes of Facebook and Twitter will hold interest on a stage, or as part of a lively production.

"The thing about social media, is, it doesn’t dramatize well?" she concluded/asked, according to Deadline

But whether you're for or against tech-inclusion, we can all agree it's good news that Fey's getting a jump on the project, thanks to a certain Kimmy Schmidt star's recently announced milestone.

"We’re working on [it], and thanks to Ellie Kemper’s pregnancy, we have this whole summer to work on it," she said.

Fey first confirmed the Mean Girls musical adaptation in March, and explained during a Whiskey Tango Foxtrot press conference that she's interested in getting smaller names to play big roles.

"I think we really want to find interesting people that no one has seen before. I don’t think I can say Audra McDonald will play Cady,” she said. “Hopefully we’ll find a young person who, at this moment, is still in college but will be making her way to New York as we write. Still a fetus somewhere."

What do you think: Are you happy that the Mean Girls musical might skip over social media, or is it too enmeshed in 2016 culture to ignore? Share your thoughts in the comments.
