‘Saturday Night Live’ Doing More Election Specials
Sheesh, is it that time again? Not only do we have to choose some kind of leader of the free world over the next few months, but it seems like forever since the last time we got any fresh ‘Saturday Night Live‘ scoop. Well, wait no longer! ‘SNL’ will of course be back this fall, airing not one, but two fresh election specials chronicling the media circus of the next race! But when will the specials air?
According to Deadline‘s coverage of the ongoing Television Critics Association press tour, NBC president Bob Greenblatt has confirmed that ‘Saturday Night Live’ will reprise its election specials for the 2012 season, much as it did back in 2008. The two specials will air on September 20 and September 27, respectively, though no additional details were offered.
Fortunately, ‘SNL’ star Seth Meyers recently shot down rumors that he’d be leaving the show to take over for Regis Philbin as host of ‘Live,’ saying “I’m really in love with the job I have. I’m very excited to be going back [to 'SNL'] for the election season, which is always fun.” Presumably, Meyers will take up hosting duty of ‘Live’ once more.
What say you? Are you excited for another round of ‘SNL’ election coverage? What guest stars do you think the show might recruit? Could Tina Fey or Will Ferrell make return appearances? You betcha! Give us your picks in the comments below!
