Sunset Mall and La Esperanza clinic are working in tandem this Saturday to provide free backpacks for students in grades kindergarten through 5th grade.

Sunset Mall and La Esperanza Clinic, Inc. are teaming up once again to celebrate National Health Center Week. The national campaign celebrates Community and raises awareness about Community Health Centers across America. The safety of our staff, volunteers, and community are top priority. We invite the community to participate in this Back to School Celebration on Saturday, August 14, 2021, which marks the end of National Health Center Week, August 9-15, 2021.

The celebration will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the backpacks will be provided to the first 300 kids in grades K-5. Local non-profits and other businesses will help fill the backpacks with school supplies. The public is invited to attend the celebration which will be held at the North Sunset Mall entrance facing Sunset Drive. Free food will be available as well.

Don’t forget the free food hosted by Food Bank. The line will begin outside along the north entrance (Sunset Drive side) and you will be given a ticket for each child grade K-5. Children in grades K-5 must be present. Then traffic will be directed through Sunset Mall for the remaining portion of this event.

The event includes a prize wheel with a chance to win gift cards, school supplies and other items.

Stacker used data from the 2020 County Health Rankings to rank every state's average life expectancy from lowest to highest. The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
