During this COVID-19 pandemic Governor Abbott issued a 'Stay-At-Home' order that requires non essential businesses to close for thirty days until there is progress in slowing down the coronavirus, but some towns and counties refuse to take heed to the order.

NBC News reports that Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames has violated her own 'Stay-at-Home' order after a photo surfaced of her getting a manicure at a local nail salon.

The Mayor is shown sitting in a chair with a mask on with her hands in a bowl of water.

The photo caused immediate backlash from her constituents as they say her actions were contradicting her orders as the district attorney is now planning to investigate.

Mayor Ames was very remorseful as she released a statement in her lapse of judgement,

I should never have entered the salon last Tuesday. I did not intend to take personal privilege while asking others to sacrifice and for that I am truly remorseful.

The Department of Licensing and Regulations has received nearly 500 complaints about non essential businesses that are violating the order and fines could reach up to $1,000 per violation.

I totally understand as I haven't received a haircut in nearly a month, but one thing I will not do is risk my life over something I could do myself at home.

Hang in there the ban will be over on Thursday (April 30th)!
