The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
What is the Scout Law? A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Scouts also take an Oath as follows...“On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”
Discovery is at the heart of Scouting. Whether it’s a campout, derby car race, or hike on the trail, scouts believe every adventure helps them to uncover a little more about themselves. Scouting teaches youth to confront any challenge with whole hearts and clear minds—to live their lives without regret, never back down, and do their very best!
Scouting is something the whole family can experience together. They designed their program so that anyone—brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers—can have fun and make an impact! Their unique programs focus on character development, leadership and outdoor exploration to provide a lifetime of benefits!
Scouting is a wonderful program for our youth to be involved in and I encourage you to find out more about scouting by attending the SCOUT EXPO at Old Fort Concho this Saturday, August 27th.
