Texas restaurants, movie theaters, retail stores, malls, hair salons, barbers, and numerous other businesses have been allowed to re-open with certain guidelines, but Bars have not.

Texas bars are asking Governor Abbott to let them reopen starting this Friday, May 15th. Gov. Abbott has not agreed and still hasn't said when or how bars, night clubs and taverns might be allowed to reopen.

According to the Texas Restaurant Association, Texas Bars have lost more than $500 million in revenue across the state. The Association said it's time to allow the bars to start operating again and has submitted a proposal to Abbott that would allow the bars to start operating again on Fri, May 15th.

The Texas Restaurant Association also proposes safety measures, some of which include:

1. A designated safety manager would be on staff.

2. Parties of no more than six people would maintain six feet of separation with other groups at all times.

3. There would be a health screening for workers at the start of their shifts.

4. A hand sanitizing station would be at the door.

The date requested for reopening bars is tomorrow, Friday, May 15th and still no word from Governor Greg Abbott at the time of this posting.
