Texas Senator Ted Cruz Calls out Sesame Street’s Big Bird!
Here's one I did not have for my bingo card for 2021.
Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz is calling out beloved Sesame Street character Big Bird. In a tweet, Cruz says the giant anthropomorphic puppet is spreading government propaganda.
The tweet came out a couple of days ago and as you might expect, it did not go over well with some people who sided with the big yellow bird.
The above tweet is true. I was a frequent watcher of Sesame Street eons ago when I was a kid, and they did address things that could be scary for young ones. One Twitter user pointed out that Big Bird has been telling children to get their shots for years.
I can't speak for 5-year-olds, but when I was that age, I hated shots and I didn't care what Big Bird said. I suspect kids who hate shots aren't gonna want to take any vaccine no matter what Sesame Street says. But then again, that decision wasn't up to me when I was 5. Mom made it for me, and I had to get my shots despite my protests.
Of course, Senator Cruz had to put his tweet on Big Bird in perspective with those on the other side of the aisle.
And the senator got in one more word on the tall yellow bird and vaccinations with the below tweet.
Star Trek actor George Takei who has over 3 million followers on Twitter decided to chime in on Big Bird and Ted Cruz with this zinger.
So, I really want to know what "The Count" thinks of all this? Or how about Oscar the Grouch. And has anybody gotten Bert and Ernie's opinion on kids getting COVID vaccinations? And what do you think about all of this?
