I remember the first time I saw the Christmas lights on the Concho in San Angelo. Many years ago, I was away from home working for a radio station here in town. I missed my family and friends, but duty called. I remember friends and co-workers telling me I had to experience the lights on the Concho.

Fast forward to this year.  I am excited to be back in San Angelo and one of the highlights of the year for me is genuinely "lighted".

The 29th Annual Tour of Lights will be spectacular this year as always. The driving tour is 2.5 miles long along the Concho full of luminescence. There will be three million lights and 78 sponsored oversized Christmas Greeting Cards.

The Tour of lights begins with a soft opening on Friday, December 2nd, and continues every evening through Saturday, December 31st. Vehicles will enter at Bryant Boulevard and First Street, just north of the Main Street Post Office.

You can't just see the lights once.  It is something you have to experience many times.  The animated scenes this year depict The Twelve Days of Christmas, A Toy Factory, A Gingerbread House, an amazing nativity scene, reindeer, American Patriotism, Santa Claus, and more.

The tour is open each night from 6 pm until 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and Fridays and Saturdays from 6 pm until midnight. A voluntary donation of 8 dollars a car is suggested.

The annual Lights of Christmas Parade is coming up on Saturday, December 3rd. Organizers are expecting it to be the biggest and best yet.

I can't wait to celebrate the holidays this year. The lights and parade here in San Angelo are perfect for creating enduring warm memories that last a lifetime. I know you'll see me there. I feel so fortunate that I get to experience it as a San Angelo resident again.
