Good Guy Customer Shoots And Kills Bad Guy Robber at Texas Fast Food Restaurant
On Friday night, two alleged robbers tried to hold up a Church's Chicken fast food restaurant in Port Arthur, Texas. An armed customer then took out both robbers killing one of the suspects.
"Several shots were fired and both suspects were struck," the Port Arthur Police Department said in a press release. "The suspects fled the scene and were later located by police officers."
One of the suspects was later pronounced dead at an area hospital, police said. The second was located at Normandy Apartments, KFDM reported, and was brought to the emergency room for treatment.
Police interviewed the customer who shot the suspects and later released him.
The incident is still under active investigation by Port Arthur Police’s Criminal Investigations Division. It happened just a day after another armed robbery at a Jack in the Box in the same town, Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso told KFDM it was not immediately clear whether the same two suspects were responsible.
Kudos to this customer who has to be considered a hero for his quick thinking under the circumstances. Maybe this will make potential robbers think twice about holing up businesses. There may be more civilians who have guns than police with open carry in Texas.
One other thing though, the lawyer side of me wonders if the surviving suspect will try to sue Church's for getting shot at their restaurant? That could be a reality in today's world of everybody suing everybody.
